Cops, on Guard For Thee?

We are a group of concerned retired and active duty peace officers looking to see the end of unconstitutional public health orders. Read our initial letter below.

Premier of Ontario,
Ministry of the Attorney General,
Ministry of the Solicitor General,
Municipal Politicians,
Public Health Officials

I am a Police Officer and know many other officers that support the following message.

After the unfortunate events in Calgary, the time for action is now. I have serious concerns over Premier Ford's decision to expand further restrictions that put law enforcement officers in an untenable situation that must be avoided.

For 10 months public officials and bureaucrats have been operating with arbitrary emergency powers that often violate the fundamental freedoms guaranteed by the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Everyday Premier Ford, Mayor Tory, and politically appointed bureaucrats are on television, radio, and in the newspapers, calling on Ontarians to slowly allow all civil liberties to be taken away.

What I have seldom seen is any comment by those in positions of Law Enforcement and the Judicial System addressing the lawfulness of these measures, or on the grave consequences they create.

I am calling on the following stakeholders to immediately meet independently from Politicians and Bureaucrats: The Ontario Chiefs of Police, Police Associations, members of the Ministry of the Attorney General including Crown Attorneys, Judges, Justices of the Peace, and Constitutional lawyers.

Please collaborate and deliver clear and concise direction to the men and women in Law Enforcement. Until this happens, a moratorium needs to be declared on the enforcement of public health orders by peace officers. 10 months has been far to long for this not to have happened.

Are police officers supposed to uphold the Charter which they have taken an oath to protect? Or do Municipal By Laws now supersede the Constitution?

At a time when the public trust in police has nearly eroded beyond repair this is of paramount importance. The citizens of Ontario deserve transparency from the officials they have elected, as well as from the police that are sworn to serve and protect. This is not an unreasonable request.

What happened in Calgary cannot happen again. Never in my life did I think I would see police officers threatening to taser and arrest kids playing pond hockey.

If Police Officers don't get together and sign this, there WILL be a rude awakening for them! They will have the Fight for their lives on their hands! They will be caught at their own game!

Laws exist to keep in check the lawless. The law is of no use on the lawful. The Charter in its preamble recognizes the Supremacy of God (first) and (then) the rule of law. All laws proceed from a higher authority, a spiritual one. Just laws from a just God, unjust laws from an unjust god(s). The government exists to PROTECT the rights of all its people which come from God, and it is NOT to mete out rights to them! They are also servants of the governed and at no time should they be permitted powers greater than that of public servants. We set the limits to their powers not the other way around. And we ought to hold them to account now, not later after many lives have been lost due to their tyranny.

As a retired Police Officer I fully support the orders issued in an attempt to control the Covid-19 pandemic. I don't want another quiet Christmas or the possibility of loosing another loved one. As far as Calgary goes, why did it take so long to take down the red neck young punk. At least his parents were smart enough to disagree with him.

Turn off the TV and open your eyes and mind. I doubt you are a police officer but if you are then your comment is disappointing. Calling a young man a redneck young punk means you have no respect for the people you swore to protect. Another reason to not believe you were a police officer. I don't want to live through civil war but if the police continue to enforce this tyranny, then civil war could happen. Is this the world you want for your children? If so you don't have to wait, you could move to China right now. Many flights to and from China every day.

As a retired police officer I would have thought you capable of critical thinking. It sounds like you are lacking some particularly when there are boat loads of valid and verifiable evidence of what is really going on behind the COVID distraction. You should be concerned about that much more than a cold/flue virus!!!!! For the record I’m 68 don’t wear mask only in circumstances to humour the fear mongers, like yourself. I have never taken the flue shot either and I still work 10 plus hours a day Monday to Friday no problem. Stop being a sheep you should know better.
